Pattern Design & Block Printing

In this surface design class Lizzy House combines her fine art background and her industry knowledge to bring you up to speed in basic surface pattern design. Together you will discuss how to create patterns that can be used for textiles as well as other surfaces, how to create a repeating pattern, and how to submit work to Spoonflower or other manufacturers. Learn about creating a cohesive collection of patterns that complement each other.

Explore the proper ways to carve a block that can be used for printing fabric or paper. Learn about the different block materials, inks, and tools that can be used for best results. See your pattern designs come to life as you learn to successfully print with them, creating beautiful custom textiles. Print on yardage, tea towels, t-shirts, or anything you choose.

This printmaking class is one 6-hour session, with a half hour break for lunch
